Dear Bryce
Many thanks for your question
Most CFL should be OK to use on sensor lights. The main reason the manufacturers say sometimes that they arent suitable is that some Compact Fluorescent Lamps take some time to get to full operating temperature which equates to full light output
This means that if you have the time set on the sensor for a short period of time that the light will never reach full brightness and this may reduce the lamp life
The other reason is some movement sensors which are in a high use area, the lamp may not tolerate long term high frequent switching. When the lamps are designed and tested they are put through a testing cycle with frequent on and off switch tests. So to get an average life of X,000 hours there must be a secret number of switch cycles. So this means if the lights are being frequently switched on/off (more than in your loungeroom, bedroom etc) then the CFL lamp may not be the right lamp for your sensor
I hope this makes sense
Should you require any further information please dont hesitate to contact me
Looking forward to being of service again to you in the future
Kind regards
Daniel
