These produce nothing at all like a standard 50 watt halogen in as far as light output. They are great for effect lighting or to light up a feature but are not considered bright enough for general lighting.
Let me put this into perspective for you. The good old standard 60 watt GLS standard light bulb that we have traditionally used for light in our homes produces 710 lumens so at 90 lumens for the cool white 5 watt high power LED you are a long way short!
I don’t believe that there will ever be a LED to replace a 50 watt halogen that can be retrofitted into the same light fitting.

The best energy saving alternative is the 20 watt IRC http://lightingpro.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=62&products_id=150 which is what I have in my house!
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Kind regards,
Daniel
