Looking for an energy efficient lights to replace downlights
Halogen May 10th, 2007I am looking for an energy efficient lights to replace my current downlights – the cutout is 80 mm and I found a fitting through Cosmoluce model GE5009 WHT which seems to suit. I am interested in moving to the GU10 CFL globes you speak of on your website. Do you have anything similar available?

I would seriously reconsider your decision about converting your lights to this type!
These 240V compact fluro GU10′s have very poor light output. Whilst they dont use much power – you don’t get much light either with these energy efficient alternatives.
If you have an 80mm cutout I would have a serious look at the following fitting which is available in either white or satin chrome finish

These are low voltage fittings and I would use the following lamp

I have just installed 20 watt energy saving dichroics in my house and have more light than the 50 watt lamps I replaced and get a 60% energy saving. The light output is simply amazing (this will depend on the spacing of your lights of course).
You will also need a transformer for each fitting and if you pick and electronic one you will get lower energy losses than the old style wore wound transformers.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
