Osram IRC Light and Heat Output
Halogen May 28th, 2007Could you tell me if the Osram Decostar IRC energy saver Halogens are suitable for placing in ceiling spots. Thats assuming the heat behind
may be too high!? The spots are currently using the standard Decostar, so I assume the heat from those would be just as high from behind!!

The IRC are great as they produce less heat than standard halogens (that’s if you use the 20 watt or 35 watt ones of course). This means that you use less power but dont lose any light output but reduce the heat as well.
The majority of energy consumed by any incandescent lamp produces heat not light so as you reduce the energy consumed you also reduce heat!
We have just added a table too which demonstrates how you can use lower wattage IRC lamps.
